Meet Bobby — one in a million! ❤️ In foster near Bath, UK. Bobby is the kind of dog who makes you smile just by being around him. He has the most charismatic personality, a beautiful nature, and one very clear priority in life: FUN! 😂 He loves sharing his fun with everyone around him, but he’s also perfectly capable of entertaining himself. Give him a basket full of toys and seven footballs and, naturally, he’ll choose… a plastic plant pot. Today’s pot was enthusiastically tossed around and eventually defeated. 🤣 Bobby has bags of energy, usually in bursts of 10–15 minutes, followed by a very serious nap in his favourite bed. He absolutely loves his bed and will happily choose it over the sofa. He loves to play fetch and, wonderfully, will bring the toy back and release it ready for you to throw again. It’s a great way to help him burn off some of that puppy energy. Bobby is affectionate to the extreme. He greets people with what can only be described as a hug. We know technically this is “jumping up”, and we are teaching him that not everyone wants a Bobby embrace, but he is so gentle that it genuinely feels like he is simply trying to hug you. ❤️ Like many young dogs, Bobby is still learning the rules of the world. He hasn’t quite grasped that the kitchen counter is not a buffet, and if something tempting is within reach, there’s a good chance he’ll investigate it. He also hasn’t yet learned the difference between “dog toy” and “thing I can throw around for entertainment”. Cushions, throws and other household items may therefore occasionally find themselves relocated to the garden! 😂 He is clean in the house and has been since day two. We have been very consistent about taking him outside after every nap, meal and drink and praising him when he goes. He is still learning to hold it for longer periods, but that should come with maturity. On walks, Bobby is doing really well. He walks nicely on the lead and enjoys stopping to investigate every interesting sniff along the way. He has also enjoyed some off-lead time, although his recall is still a work in progress. He tends to stick with the other dogs, which helps, and we reward every successful recall with a high-value treat. Bobby is very friendly with other dogs and has no aggression around food or toys, either with people or other dogs. He can sometimes get a little over-enthusiastic and doesn't always understand when another dog would prefer some personal space, so he may occasionally need reminding when another dog tells him, “Enough now, Bobby!” 😄 He is fantastic with people, including children. However, children will need to understand that anything left lying around may become Bobby's next exciting toy — and may subsequently be found in the garden in several pieces! At the moment, Bobby's view is that everything belongs to Bobby. 😂 We would not recommend Bobby for a home with cats. He currently lives with a very confident, dog-savvy cat who has been trying her best to train him, but Bobby is not taking the lessons seriously and still wants to chase her. We would be concerned about placing him with a less confident cat. He has also been banned from the room containing a hamster after showing rather too much interest in his little neighbour! At night, Bobby sleeps beautifully in his own bed in the same room as me. He has not yet been taught to sleep alone, so this is something his new family will need to introduce gradually. Bobby needs an active, patient and loving home, ideally with someone around during the day. A garden would be a huge bonus, and when he is fully grown he could make a fantastic running companion. Most importantly, his new family needs to understand that Bobby is still a youngster who is learning how to be a dog. Some of his behaviours are very typical puppy behaviours, and he missed out on the opportunity to learn many of those early-life lessons while spending time in a cage. He doesn't need someone to punish or become frustrated with him. He needs someone who will patiently teach him, give him boundaries, keep his brain and body occupied, and allow him time to mature. Because underneath all those plant-pot battles, stolen cushions and enthusiastic hugs is the most wonderful, happy boy. ❤️ Bobby wants nothing more than to be your best friend — and if you give him the chance, he will make you his. Bobby is looking for his forever family. Could that be you? 🐾❤️ Please get in touch if you think you could offer this gorgeous boy the active, patient and loving home he deserves.
